Thursday (20th) – Free movie under the stars at DCR’s Pope John Paul II Park on Thursdays through August 27. All movies begin at sundown. This evening’s feature is Alexander.

• Evening Outdoor Movie at Standish Village, 6 p.m. at Standish Village, 1190 Adams St., Dorchester. Enjoy popcorn, soda, and a movie under the stars.

Sunday (23rd) – Mayor Martin J. Walsh and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department sponsor the Mayor’s Cup Pop Warner Football Jamboree on Sunday, August 23, at Roberts Playground, 56 Dunbar Ave., Dorchester. Boston’s largest youth football exhibition will start at 9 a.m. and will run all day. hroughout the day more than 1,000 coaches, family members, and spectators are expected to attend and enjoy the competition. Limited parking is available at the park with additional parking available at Tech Boston Academy, 9 Peacevale Road.

• The Dorchester Bike Coalition and Bowdoin Bike School will sponsor a community bike ride from Codman Square and Uphams Corner to Tenean Beach on Sunday. The ride starts from Southern Ave. near Codman Square— new home of Bowdoin Bike School— at 2 p.m. with a stop at Magnolia and Bird Streets at 3 p.m., ending at Tenean Beach at 4 p.m. with food and games planned. Free.

Wednesday (26th) – Boston Centers for Youth & Families (BCYF) hosts Girls Dance Night, BCYF Vine Street Community Center, 339 Dudley St., Roxbury 5-8 p.m., girls ages 6-18 welcome. • Countdown to Kindergarten Party, 6 p.m. at Adams Street Branch of the Boston Public Library, 690 Adams St., Dorchester.
