As Shawn Borden vacuumed out his minivan on Dorchester Avenue on a warm October evening, three men slowly drove by him in a rented black Ford Fusion. Ten minutes later, they drove by him once more. And then, Assistant Suffolk County District Attorney Catherine Ham said Monday morning, they parked around the corner. One got out and opened fire, pulling the trigger 15 times, fatally wounding Borden, Ham said.

Tyshawn Cummings and Jamari Manning, both 21, were ordered held without bail at the arraignment today in Dorchester District Court for the Oct. 11 shooting that would kill Borden two weeks later. The third suspect, Tyshawn Sanders, 18 - whom authorities say fired the shots - is scheduled for arraignment tomorrow.

The arraignment ended in a shouting match between Borden's family and those of the defendants that escalated into a fight outside on Washington Street. At least one man was arrested as police briefly shut Washington Street to bring the melee under control.

"Murderers! Murderers!" Aisha Pouncie, mother of an 18-year-old with Borden yelled - as members of the defendants' families yelled back the man are innocent until proven guilty.

Ham said numerous surveillance cameras in the area recorded the three suspects in the car circling Borden between 5 p.m. and 5:50 p.m. - and that data from a GPS device Cummings was wearing as a condition of bail on an earlier charge placed him in the vehicle as it circled and then, after the shooting, sped away.

After the shooting, she said, Sanders ran back to the car, parked at Mather and Silloway. Manning, behind the wheel, sped the wrong way down Silloway, she said.

Cummings, who had been arrested a year ago on gun charges, and Manning, arrested earlier this month on marijuana-distribution charges, had both been in Dorchester Municipal Court the morning of the shooting for a hearing, Ham said.

She said Manning's girlfriend had rented the Fusion on Oct. 11 - and that twice in the days following, police had stopped the vehicle, once after a minor accident, and that both times Manning was driving.

Ham did not specify why Borden was targeted.
