Comcast also brought along a check for $25,000 as a donation to the to the Dorchester YMCA.

Nearly 5,000 local Comcast NBC Universal employees and their families, friends and community partners participated in the service day across the country. In Massachusetts, volunteers rolled up their sleeves up at sites in Billerica, Bridgewater, Danvers, Dorchester, Fitchburg, Haverhill, Lawrence, Lowell, Quincy, Somerville and Taunton.

Some of the volunteers in Dorchester were members of the City Year Boston corps, who teamed up to build the first mini-golf course in the Y's backyard.

"We are incredibly grateful to Comcast and their entire staff for dedicating their time to support our neighborhood and the organizations that help our community thrive," said Andrea Baez, executive director of the YMCA of Greater Boston's Dorchester branch. "This day is a true celebration of Dorchester and what we can accomplish when we all come together to work as a team. We are fortunate to be supported by our neighbors, elected officials and local businesses who donate their time and support our cause-driven work."
