Taste of Dorchester set for Thursday evening

Irie Jamaican Style Restaurant is one of the 23 featured restaurants who serve up dinner and dessert at Taste of Dorchester.

It’s that delicious time of year again: The eighth annual Taste of Dorchester event — set for Thursday, April 28— will give guests the opportunity to sample the most popular and tastiest culinary dishes from 23 local restaurants all under one roof at Dorchester’s IBEW Hall from 6-8 p.m.

Organized by the Dorchester based non-profit Massachusetts Affordable Housing Alliance, all proceeds will benefit MAHA's homeownership education and civic engagement programs and two central scholarships: the IBEW Local 103/Taste of Dorchester scholarship and the MAHA Florence Hagins College Scholarship.

Among the participating restaurants this year are Chill on Park, ester-Lower Dot dining, Sweet Life Bakery and Café, Phillips and the Freeport Tavern, Phillips Candy House, Pho Hoa and The Ice Creamsmith.

Tickets are available for adults in advance for $40, which is good until midnight on April 27. Tickets will be $50 at the door and children 5 years old and younger are free.
