District 7 candidates' forum scheduled for Wednesday

The two candidates running to represent District 7 face off against one another on Wednesday night in Roxbury. Chuck Turner, who is facing federal corruption charges that he says are false, is running for re-election. Challenger Carlos Henriquez is making his second bid to topple him. The two-hour forum, at Hibernian Hall on Dudley St., starts at 6 p.m. The forum is sponsored by the RoxVote Coalition, the Dudley St. Neighborhood Initiative, and Democratic Ward Committees 9 and 12.

Turner, Henriquez miss deadlines for their campaign finance reports

Incumbent District 7 Councillor Chuck Turner and his challenger, Carlos Henriquez, missed the deadline for campaign finance reports that were due into the city clerk’s office by the end of Monday. Tardy filers could be subject to a fine of $10 for each day a report is late.  Read more

JP Gazette: FBI photo of Turner makes Henriquez 'nervous'

District 7 candidate Carlos Henriquez has often walked around the federal corruption charges levied against Councillor Chuck Turner.

But now he's getting "nervous," he tells the Jamaica Plain Gazette, about the surveillance video that FBI officials released to the press that allegedly shows Turner accepting a $1,000 bribe. (Turner has pleaded not guilty.)

Local NOW PAC endorses Henriquez and three for at-large

The political action committee of the Boston chapter of MassNOW (National Organization for Women) has endorsed three candidates running for City Council At-Large: former Kerry aide Ayanna Pressley; Felix Arroyo, son of the city councillor; and Tito Jackson, a Patrick administration official. Most interesting is their endorsement of Carlos Henriquez, who is running against incumbent District 7 Councillor Chuck Turner. BostonNOW is one of nine local MassNOW chapters.
