Social Capital Inc. (SCI), an organization whose mission is to strengthen communities by connecting diverse individuals and organizations through civic engagement initiatives, needs you! Youth are a powerful force of change and we are recruiting and training teens to connect with and engage citizens through community service learning projects. The program is free for participants, but we do ask that girls commit to all sessions. This program starts next week. We can take girls on the second session if necessary.

THE ROXBURY COMMUNITY ADVISORY BOARD(CRAB)has membership openings and is seeking individuals who live or work in Roxbury, Dorchester or Mattapan and are interested in helping to end health disparities and
expand participation in medical research.
THE ROXBURY CRAB is composed of residents who are working to improve community understanding of and responsiveness to community based and clinical research in the Community and work to advise researchers. Tutor For Project D.E.E.P. This Year!

Project D.E.E.P. (Dorchester Educational Enrichment Program) is seeking a few good tutors from the local community.

The commitment is one ninety (90) minute time period per week to work with one child. This period can be anytime from 3:00 - 8:00pm on any day Monday through Thursday.

There are three locations in Dorchester, and we are seeking tutors for all of them.  Read more

If you cannot attend, or if you decide to enroll after our event, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can do our best to enroll your child in our programs. One-day Irish Festival in the works for Adams Corner

It’s earned a reputation as the center of Irish Dorchester and remains one of the region’s most identifiably Irish-American enclaves. Adams Corner is likely to cement that image this fall as residents and merchants work to stage a one-day Irish Festival over Columbus Day weekend.
A committee of civic leaders has been working on the festival idea for months— and this week went public with a website and initial details for the October 11th event.  Read more

A passing motorist shot a photo (left) of the suspect's Vespa scooter, which crashed in a parking lot in front of storefronts across from St. Brendan's Church.
Eyewitness accounts say that the suspect weaved through sidestreets in the Cedar Grove neighborhood before the pursuit ended. The suspect —identified by Milton Police as 35 year-old William Donovan— was arrested as he tried to evade capture behind the Muffler Man building next to Toohig Park. The events unfolded just before 10 a.m. on Wednesday.  Read more

Neponset Health Center teams up with Neighborhood Health Plan

Starting Friday July 10th Neponset Health Center will be hosting a health insurance table hosted by a Neighborhood Health Plan representative. Neighborhood Health Plan will be in the lobby of the Neponset Health Center every other Friday from 9am-2pm with information on the health insurance plans that are available to everyone. The Neighborhood Health Plan rep. will be able to answer any questions that you may have about their plans and will help find out which plan will work best for you. They will also have FREE giveaways for people who come in for information.  Read more
