C-11 police see rise in daytime home burglaries

An uptick in daytime burglaries has Boston Police stepping up patrols and calling this week for increased vigilance from residents.
Captain Richard Sexton, who commands the Area C-11 district, told the Reporter that breaking-and-entering reports have been on the increase for three consecutive months. Read more

Once again it is Indian chicken Balti on Tuesdays and shepherd's pie on Wednesdays for lunch. After a break-in and a slow-down in business, patrons of Dot2Dot café in the St. Mark's neighborhood come here not only to eat, but also to volunteer.
With help from the neighborhood, the European-style café is back in business after briefly closing its doors. Read more
Unsolved murders top agenda at St. Mark's civic meeting

The separate murders of two men on King Street in the last month-and-a-half weighed heavily on the minds of those gathered for Tuesday night's meeting of the Saint Mark's Area Civic Association.
Nicklan Rosa, 25, was shot to death in the driveway of a home he lived in at 26 King Street on the afternoon of Sept. 18. Police say that an unidentified, lone gunman targeted Rosa in what they say was likely a gang-related dispute. Read more
New condos in pipeline for St. Mark's area

In what was described as an "honest communication problem," the Boston Redevelopment Authority failed to notify the St. Mark's Civic Association of a new condo development proposed for 9 Banton St. Only a handful of residents showed up for at Nov. 7 community meeting showing the plans.
"I was disappointed there wasn't more of a turnout," said Barbara Bean, ex-president of the St. Mark's Civic Association (SMCA). "I felt like the word hadn't really gotten out." Read more
