This Sunday, June 27th, Zimbabwean-American musician Solomon Murungu will lead a free mbira workshop at 4:00 p.m. at a location to be named later in the Ashmont/Adams neighborhood. Murungu will bring mbira instruments for those who need one (no experience necessary). Afterward, he will join New World Soul band Zili Misik in concert from 5:30-7 p.m. Those interested in attending can register here, after which they will receive the address for the event. The Facebook event with details can be found here.

The following week, steel pan player Becky Bass will host a Steel Pan workshop/concert on July 5 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Join Becky Bass for an interactive workshop in steel pan — don’t worry, no experience necessary, and some steel pans available for your (safe) use. Please RSVP to comply with health guidelines and reserve an instrument for you. Please bring your mask and expect to socially distance as we socially connect with neighbors and learn about African diasporic music.
