Man shot on Dot Ave dies, investigation ongoing

A 41-year old man who was shot on Oct. 18 while fixing his car on Dorchester Avenue has died.
Speaking before the St. Mark’s Area Civic Association on Tuesday night, Capt. Tim Connolly, the commander at C-11, briefed the community on the now-fatal shooting.

Police were called for a report of shots fired in the area of 1631 Dorchester Ave. at 5:44 p.m. last Tuesday. A lone gunman fired 15 rounds from a high-capacity handgun and fled on foot, according to Boston Police.

The victim was struck in his left arm and neck. He was transported for surgery at Boston Medical Center.

Connolly said the victim died on Tuesday, Oct. 25. Police have not yet released the victim’s name.

A man identifying himself as the victim’s brother told the Boston Globe after the shooting that the man was named Shean, a married father of four with a baby grandchild.

Connolly said that the investigation is ongoing, but it is believed that the man’s son was the target and that the father was struck instead.

The building near the corner of Dorchester Ave and Mather Street has been on police radar for some time now for gang and prostitution activity, Connolly said. An investigation into the property has concluded, and he has written to the department managing the city’s problem properties to see about getting the residents evicted.
