Mayor Martin J. Walsh and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department invite families to the Franklin Park Golf Course Clubhouse for the Children’s Winter Festival from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The festival will also feature winter arts and crafts, balloon animals, and refreshments provided by New England Coffee. Snowshoes will be provided along with sleds for sledding. Participants should wear weather-appropriate clothing and winter or hiking boots. Free parking is available at the clubhouse parking lot located at One Circuit Drive in Franklin Park.

Fiddlehead Theatre Company’s The Wiz continues its run at the Strand Theatre tonight with a performance at 8 p.m. The two final shows are set for Saturday at 8 p.m. at Sunday at 2 p.m. A meet-and-greet with Dusty the Terrier follows the Sunday matinee. Longtime UMass Boston men’s basketball coach Charlie Titus will coach his Beacons for the last time in the Clark Athletic Center gymnasium on Saturday, Feb. 21. The Beacons will play Western Connecticut State University at 3 p.m. and will honor Coach Titus throughout the afternoon. Immediately following the game, Chancellor J. Keith Motley will recognize Coach Titus and throughout the game prizes and special one-of-a-kind T-shirts will be handed out to fans. There will also be two special raffles held during the event for a UMass Boston prize pack, and a set of four Boston Celtics tickets. A multi-time recipient of the Little East Conference Coach of the Year award, Titus has led the Beacons to two NCAA Tournament appearances, and the 2006 Little East Tournament title.
