SuccessLink, a web application designed to connect Boston youth to jobs and internships during both the school year and summer, launched this past Saturday.

The app, formerly known as the Hope Line under the Menino administration, will allow young people to connect with over 200 non-profits, community-based, and government organizations.

A multi-step application process allows those seeking job experience to be paired with the most suitable work, said Rashad Cope, the Director of BCYS Division of Youth Engagement and Employment.

“We want young people to have meaningful work experiences, and not only match young people to the right career areas, but also collect outcomes and success of the employment program,” said Cope, 34.

SuccessLink receives traffic from about 6,000 young people during the summer application months and roughly 1,000 during the school year. There are 3,200 jobs available during the summer, and 500 during the academic year. These numbers have been consistent over the past couple of years, since the rebranding.

SuccessLink will remain open for summer job applications until Friday, March 31. An individual must be a full-time resident of the City of Boston, and must turn 15 years-old on or before Friday, August 18.

They cannot turn 19-years-old on or before the same date.

Cope sees the myriad of employment opportunities as unprecedented access to some of Boston’s best organizations.

“We want to show young people a variety of different fields and encourage them to develop their skill set, as well as prepare them for life transitions,” he said.
