Jean Weevins Janvier is being held without bail on first-degree murder indictments for the 2011 murders of two Haitian-American sisters in Dorchester, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said last Friday. His next court date is Aug. 1.

Janvier, 35, and formerly of Dorchester, was apprehended in Haiti earlier this month and transported from New York to Boston. He is accused of the Nov. 14, 2011 homicides of Judith Emile, 23, and her sister, Stephanie Emile, 21, inside their Harlem Street apartment, as well as well as two counts of armed assault in a dwelling and one count of unlawful possession of the firearm, with which they were killed.

Clerk Magistrate Lisa Medeiros ordered Janvier held without bail at his arraignment Friday. He will return to court on Aug. 1.
