The Boston City Council is expected to begin discussions this month about the next steps in governance reform for the Boston School Committee, which is currently appointed by the Mayor. However, Boston residents voted overwhelmingly in 2021 to restore an elected school committee and advocates are pressing to make swift changes to take effect this year.
