A 21-year-old man was fatally shot at 163 Ruthven St. in Roxbury around 10 p.m. last Thursday (June 19), according to Boston Police who later identified the victim as Teo Vernice. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Preliminary investigation suggests the incident may have occurred inside a vehicle that subsequently crashed.  No arrests have been reported.

Boston Police continue to investigate a shooting in Lower Mills last Saturday night that left one man injured. Police responding to a ShotSpotter activation in the vicinity of Morton Street around 11:30 p.m. were summoned to 1140 Washington St., where an adult man was found suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. Officers applied a tourniquet to the man’s leg at the scene before he was transported to a local hospital. An extensive blood trail was observed around the scene, but no other victims were located, according to a police report.

Police canvassed the area and also reviewed video footage that “caught the incident” and led police to a nearby residence where a group of occupants were removed and frisked. “It should be noted that the names of the individuals removed from [the residence] will be further investigated,” a police report concluded. Five shell casings were recovered from the scene. No arrests have yet been reported.

Three people were shot and a passing motorist was injured by shattered glass during an incident on Wayland Street and Howard Avenue around 9:25 p.m. on Sunday night, (June 22). Two of three male gunshot victims were hit in the leg and a third man in the calf, according to a BPD account. Ballistic evidence at the scene found two vehicles also hit by bullets. No arrests have been reported.

The owner of a Dorchester auto-body shop was arrested last week and faces a detention hearing on a charge of attempted possession of five kilograms or more of cocaine with intent to distribute for the 15 kilos of what turned out to be fake cocaine being sold to him by an undercover DEA agent, according to court filings.

Jose Perez, 47, of Brockton and the owner of JP Auto Body on Ceylon Street in Dorchester, is currently locked up pending a detention hearing on June 24 in US District Court in Boston, according to court records. In an affidavit, a DEA agent writes that Perez told one of the undercover agents that he could easily raise $80,000 to $90,000 for an initial purchase of 10 to 15 kilos – roughly 22 to 33 pounds.
