Boston Police released this surveillance video Tuesday night of the alleged suspects on scooters.

A police report reviewed by The Reporter does not give any details about how the shooting happened, but sources at the Columbia-Savin Hill Civic Association, briefed by a police commander on Monday, said the victim had pulled over to “secure cargo” in his pick-up truck when he was accosted by two people on a scooter who attempted to steal the truck, leading to an altercation and the shooting. The victim’s car was towed from the scene as part of the BPD investigation.

In one instance, a 15-year-old teen was arrested after police say they saw him fire a gun inside a crowded Harambee Park near the basketball courts just before 8 p.m.

“Officers ordered the suspect to drop the gun, which he did not comply with and attempted to flee on a moped which did not start,” a police account relayed. “The suspect attempted to run, and a firearm fell to the ground from his waistband. Officers quickly handcuffed the suspect, and were immediately advised of a person shot. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.”

A Glock 26 gun with one spent shell casing in the chamber and four rounds in an extended magazine was taken from the scene. The suspect— a juvenile— was not named, but will face various gun and assault and battery charges in Dorchester court.

Earlier in the day, around 10:40 a.m., police stationed near Columbia Road and Blue Hill Avenue heard several gunshots nearby and quickly found a victim lying in the middle of the street by the corner of Old Road and Michigan Avenue. The young man, hit in the upper left thigh, was treated by officers with tourniquets to stem his bleeding and then taken to the hospital by EMTs. The BPD account of the incident noted that the police response was interrupted by “another large group of people fighting and additional calls for service.” Two men who were observed fleeing the scene were taken into custody, but no arrests or charges for the shooting itself have been reported.
