Fields Corner switch: New coffee shop to replace interior of nail supply outlet

In an abutters’ meeting on May 11, advocate Chuong Pham and architect Jae Hyong Kim presented plans to renovate the 933-square-foot interior of the Lexor nail supply store at 1411 Dorchester Ave. into a Vietnamese coffee shop selling hot and cold coffees, fruit teas, and banh mi sandwiches. The store would have seating for five patrons and would be upgraded to full ADA accessibility.

“We are preparing to convert it to a coffee shop from a nail supply,” said Pham. “We didn’t change the outside at all and will keep it as it except for changing the signage. In the interior we made the storage bigger and upgraded the bathroom because it was small and not up to code.”

The owner and operator of the shop was never identified in the meeting, but Pham said the shop would stand out in the corridor. “It has unique coffees and I don’t think the area has this type of coffee shop just yet,” he said. “It has regular coffees to matcha and everything else.”

There were no comments from the public at the meeting and no opposition. The proposal is expected to be on a future agenda of the Fields Corner Civic Association (FCCA).
