Safe Summer Streets Program – The Safe Summer Streets program kicked off it’s 27th season last week with a Block Party including activities in the gym, pool and an outdoor BBQ. Thanks to members of the Boston Police Department for spending the night with us. The Safe Summer Streets program will continue weekdays until 11:00 p.m. through 8/10. There will be special events, group clubs, field trips and ongoing programs for teen members to take part in. We will also serve dinner each night and there will be transportation home each evening. Please note transportation is provided on a first come basis for those members actively participating in programs. For more information contact Marcus Johnson (mjohnson@bgcdorchester.org).
Fine Arts Program – The Fine Arts program at the Club will continue it’s year-round community partnership with the Museum of Fine Arts by taking part in three Artful Adventure trips to the Museum in the month of July. The trips, scheduled for 7/12, 7/19 and 7/26 will include a tour of a specific section of the Museum followed by an Arts project relating to the exhibit they have toured. In addition, we will be hosting the Eliot School for the Arts on 7/21 at our Denney Center Unit and again on 7/28 at our McLaughlin Center. For more information please contact Jessica Hulslander (jhulslander@bgcdorchester.org).
Dan Duquette Sports Academy – Congratulations to the 10 members selected to attend the Dan Duquette Sports Academy this Summer. The one-week overnight Camp is held in Hinsdale, MA and will offer participants an opportunity to try out a number of different sports as part of their “All Sports” Camp. Our thanks to the Yawkey Foundation, which continues to offer this yearly special event to our members.
