Daniel Marr, Jr. Catholic Schools Scholarship Program

The Boys and Girls Club is pleased to announce that the 18th year of the Daniel Marr, Jr. Catholic Schools Scholarship Program is complete with 73 Club members selected to participate representing 23 schools in the greater Boston area. The Daniel Marr, Jr. Scholarship Program was founded in 1992 in the name of the late Daniel Marr, Jr. upon his bequest to the Archdiocese of Boston. In turn, the Archdiocese created the scholarship fund to recognize the work Mr. Marr had done in the community, and as a means to assist Club members and their families with tuition assistance at Catholic Elementary and High Schools located in the area. To date well over $600,000 has been awarded through this very successful collaboration between the Archdiocese and the Boys and Girls Club to deserving Boys and Girls Club members. We congratulate all of the members selected.

Music Clubhouse Dedication

The Boys and Girls Club is pleased to announce that we will be hosting the official opening of our new Music Clubhouse on Wednesday, November 5th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. For several years the Club has been able to offer music instruction to the membership thanks to our ongoing partnership with Berklee College. The success of this program coupled with support from the Music and Youth Initiative provided the impetus to reconfigure space inside the Paul R. McLaughlin Center building to create a dedicated Music Clubhouse for our members. Thanks to construction support from the Amelia Peabody Foundation, Charles Hayden Foundation and the City of Boston’s Department of Neighborhood Development the Clubhouse is now ready to be used by members ages 10 and older. For more information on the Music program please contact Alex Budrow at 617-288-7120, ext. 1410.
