The 10-team Intermediate/Senior Basketball League (I/SBL) began play this past week with seven games played over three days. On Tuesday, the first of two games featured Stanford taking on Boston College in a battle of two teams from the 4-team Intermediate division for players ages 13 to 15. Boston College utilized a half-time lead to pull out a 57-49 victory. A.J. Monteiro (12), Tyrell Joseph (11), Pedro Lopes (10) and Andronique DosSantos (10) led Boston College while Junior Monteiro (17) and Eric Correia (13) led Stanford. In the second game it was California defeating UConn 74-71 in the opener for the 6-team Senior division for players ages 15-18. Nicholas Simpson (23), Jonge DaSilva (22) and Kaylab Silva (12) led California while the trio of Alex Brown (25), Francis DePina (24) and Cedric Correia (11) led UConn. On Thursday, two more games were held with California defeating Florida in the opener 63-53. The duo of Nicholas Simpson (21) and Kaylab Silva (16) led California while Wayne Barnes (11) and Soulymane Barry (10) led Florida. In the late game Michigan, behind Maurice Evans (19), Emoni Vicente (16), Dwayne Harper (15) and Marcus Campbell (14) defeated Michigan 71-58. Erikson Carvalho (14), Bernard Barbosa (13) and David Turner (11) led the offense for Kentucky. On Saturday, the final three games of the week were held with Florida defeating Michigan in the opener 70-48. Solomon Abioye (15), Patrick Champagnie (13) and Jeffrey Ramos (11) led Florida while Michigan was led by Dwayne Harper (14), Marcus Campbell (12) and Anthony DoSouto (10). In the middle game it was UConn defeating N.C. State by a score of 72-60. Francis DePina (22), Alex Brown (15), Danielson Correia (14) and Cedric Correia (10) led UConn while Evandro Teixeira (22), Ralph Jean-Baptiste (21) and Nadeer Charles (13) led N.C. State. In the final game U.N.C. upended Georgia Tech 72-69. Roodly Charitable (16) and Kayla O’Brien (13) led U.N.C. while Georgia Tech was led by Kevin Melville (18), Isaiah Miranda (13) and T.J. Silva (13). The Intermediate/Senior Basketball League will continue playing regular season games on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings through early June followed by the play-off tournament. Marr-lins Attend National Championship Meet
Earlier this month 9 members of the Marr-lin Swim Team headed to St. Petersburg, Florida to take part in the Annual Boys and Girls Club National Swim Championships. These members posted the necessary qualifying times and practice attendance marks to become eligible for the meet and helped lead the team to a 10th place finish overall.
