Marr-lin Swim Team Competes in Regional Championship
The Marr-lin Swim Team hit the road last month to compete in the regional championship meet held in Lebanon, NH. The members of the team who met attendance and sportsmanship requirements helped lead the team to a fifth place finish in the overall standings.
Some of the highlights include the following swimmers in the 8 & under age group: Emma Murphy (25 yd. Backstroke 21.36), Clare McCarthy (25 yd. Butterfly 28.20), Gavin Doherty (25 yd. Butterfly 29.64), Clyde Garrett (50 yd. Freestyle 1:01.40), Sarah O’ Donovan (100 yd. I.M. 1:57.20), Jordan Barrant (25 yd. Butterfly 33.85), Jesus Rodriguez (25 yd. Lastly, outstanding performances from swimmers in the 17 & under category include: Kara Shaughnessey (100 yd. Freestyle 1:03.15), Patricia Rizzo (200 yd. Freestyle 2:35.60), Maeve McCarthy (100 yd. Butterfly 1:39.29), David Barry (100 yd. Freestyle 1:01.81), Matthew Turner (200 yd. Freestyle 3:00.29), Nora Doherty (100 yd. Butterfly 1:23.66), Andy Laforest (100 yd. Freestyle 53.90), Chelsea Burns (200 yd. I.M. 2:52.18), Jessica Carvalho (50 yd. Freestyle 34.09) and Joao DePina (200 yd. I.M. 2:27.60). To close out the meet we would like to congratulate the relay team of Breena Baird, Grace Scuzzarella, Casey MacKinnon and Samantha Smith who set a new club record in the 200 yd. Freestyle Relay (2:34.08), as well as all of the members of the team on their strong showing.
