After hosting two off-site programs (Camp Northbound and Disney for Kids) and a brief close-down period the Club will be re-opening on Monday, September 12 at 2 p.m. for the school year program. Our new operating hours for the Fall program will be Monday through Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Another new change to the school-year program is that we will now accept 5 year-old members into our drop-in program. Please note that our Denney Center Unit is closed on Saturdays and parents should contact the Club for specific hours their child may attend. The registration period is also a great time to tour the facilities, meet staff and to renew expired memberships. A one-year membership costs $10 while a family of two or more registering at the same time will pay no more than $15. For more information on the Fall program registration please contact VP of Programming, Mike Joyce at ext. 2110.

New “Learn To” Programming for Tots

The Club is excited to announce that we will begin a whole new series of “Learn To” programming for 3-5 year olds on weekday afternoons and Saturday mornings. There will be programming in many of our core program areas including Athletics (Learn to Play Soccer and Learn to Play Floor Hockey), Aquatics (Learn to Swim, Family Swim), Fine Arts (Art for Me), Music (Music for Me), Education (Science for Me, Stories for Me), and Social Recreation/Movement (Gym for Me). Registration for these classes will also take place the week of Aug. 22 and there will be a $35 fee for each 8-week session of classes. Prior to registering you will need to fill out a membership application for each child. For more information please contact Kevin Vo, Membership Coordinator, at ext. 1000 or Mary Kinsella VP of Early Education & Care programs, at ext. 2140.

Summer Job Programs Conclude

In late August participants in our various employment positions through the Career Launch program will conclude their summer job experience. Thanks to our valued partnerships with the Boston Youth Fund, the Boston Private Industry Council and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholars program, teen members were placed in positions on-site at our three service locations. In all, nearly 110 teen members were part of the Career Launch program this summer. We offer a special thanks to all of the organizations who stepped forward to provide these positions for our deserving teen members. For teens seeking school-year positions within the Boys and Girls Club and the local business community, Club staff will be on hand to assist with resumes, applications and interviews. The Career Prep component is just one of many programs for teens that will be offered this Fall. For information on any of our upcoming Fall programs for teens please contact Teen Director, Stacie Moretti at 617- 288-7120, ext. 1420.
