Photography Club to Hold Exhibit
The Photography Club has enjoyed a special partnership with the New England Institute of Art this summer as interns have been working with Club members on a special summer session. Throughout the school vacation the Photography Club has traveled off-site to take photos that will now be developed and framed as part of an exhibit being hosted by the Institute opening on August 13th. Club members, parents and friends will be invited to the opening which will remain posted for two weeks. Selected pieces will then be submitted as part of our annual submission to Boys and Girls Clubs of America’s National Photography competition later in the year. Thanks to the New England Institute of Art for this exciting partnership and congratulations to the members whose works will be displayed. For more information on our Arts programming please contact Donna Seery at ext. 103.
Smile Initiative to Return
The Smile Initiative will return to the Club on August 13th to provide on-site dental care to eligible members. After an initial visit in July that saw 15 members receive services, the program will return for those members taking part in our second session. The Smile Initiative aims to increase the availability of oral health services for youth so they may avoid costly services down the road. The program partners with youth-serving agencies to capture the participating youth. To participate, parents must fill out an application with representatives from the Smile Initiative processing the paperwork with the respective health care provider. For more information, or to obtain an application, please contact Social Recreation Director, Vanusa Gomes at 617-288-7120, ext. 112.
