Summer Day Program Registration

Registration for the 2012 Summer program is right around the corner and will commence on Saturday, April 28th. Please note that the 2012 program will be different from year’s past in several ways. While remaining a drop-in style program, In an effort to accommodate working parents the program hours have been extended to 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on a Monday to Friday schedule. We will also offer a full day program for Bantams (ages 5 & 6 – note that new 5 year olds must be 5 as of 9/1/11). The first session will begin on Monday, July 2nd and run through Friday, July 20th (excluding the 4th of July Holiday). The second session will run from July 23rd to August 15th. The cost for Bantams (ages 5 & 6) will be $150 per session while members ages 7 to 12 can register for $100 to attend a session. New this year is the ability to register for both sessions. As mentioned, the first registration day will take place on April 28th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We will also accept registrations on May 2nd from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. as well as May 17th from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. Note that there will be a $50 late fee to register after May 17th and that beginning on April 28th all spots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. April Program Highlights

The month of April kicks-off the Spring program and members can look for exciting activities in all core program areas. In our Athletic program the 10-team Intermediate/Senior Basketball League (ages 13-18) will begin play on 4/10. Our 4-team Co-ed Indoor Soccer League (ages 8-12) will begin play on 4/13. We will also offer an All-Star Indoor Soccer Team ages (10-12) and Co-ed Volleyball Team (ages 13-18) that will compete against Clubs in the region. In our Aquatic program, selected members of the Marr-lin Swim Team will be competing at the Boys and Girls Club Championship Meet In St. Petersburg, FL (4/1 to 4/3). Upon returning, we will begin to accept registrations for the 6-team Intramural Swim League (4/5). There will be a try-out (50 yd. swim) for new participants offered on 4/10, 4/12 and 4/14. Teams will be selected over the vacation week and practices will begin the week of 4/23. We will also begin session #4 of the Swim lesson program the week of 4/23. In our Fine Arts program we will begin a new session of classes the week of 4/2 which will include Sculpture, Teen Arts, Painting & Drawing, Girls Art, Boys Art, Fuse Bead Fridays and Open Art. We will also host Massachusetts Attorney General, Martha Coakley on 4/25 when she will present certificates to the young artists who took part in the Victim Witness Advocate Calendar project. Lastly, selected members of the Photography Class will see their photos sent to the Northeast Regional Exhibit in Hawthorne, NJ on 4/27. In our Music Clubhouse program look for the winner of our Clubhouse Idol competition to perform at the Idol Showcase on 4/13 at the Strand Theater. We will also host our monthly Open Mic Night on 4/20 and complete the Winter session of Music Lessons on 4/27. In our Education program High School age members are invited to join us on Boston College Splash, an inter-active College Tour on 4/1, to apply for the Operation Progress College Scholarships (4/18 deadline), and the 2-day Cyber Summit being held at the Blue Hill Club on 4/19 and 4/20. These special events are in addition to our ongoing Homework Help, One-to-One Tutoring and small group clubs. In the Teen Program members of the Keystone Club will be traveling to Boston College on 4/12 to take part in the third of three workshops with the Jenks Leadership Institute as well as participating in the Boston Shines city-wide clean-up on 4/28. In addition, we will begin working with teens who have applied to the Career Prep Summer Jobs program for potential placement. At our Denney Center Unit located in Harbor Point we will be taking teens on a 3-day retreat to Cape Cod (46 to 4/8) as well as our Annual Spring Field Day on 4/20. In our Social Recreation program we will host an Easter Party on 4/6 and begin taking registrations for those members invited to attend Camp Northbound on 4/28. Also, to coincide with the Summer Program Registration, we will host a Field Day on 4/28 which will include outdoor games, family-friendly activities, food, tours and more. Other important dates include our Parent Workshop Series – Positive Guidance & Discipline (4/3) and Self Care & Stress Management (4/10), and the April School Vacation Week (4/17 to 4/21).
