The president of Cape Verde, Pedro Pires, will be in Dorchester this Saturday, June 11, visiting St. Peter’s Teen Center, according to Fr. Jack Ahern.
The event starts at 11 a.m.
Pires has served as president since 2001. He had previously served as Cape Verde’s prime minister. According to the CIA Factbook, “Cape Verde continues to exhibit one of Africa’s most stable democratic governments.”
The Bowdoin St. center Pires will be visiting serves about 200 teens daily with a variety of recreational aned educational programs, and provides English language tutoring for recent immigrants from Cape Verde.
