“This is the most important election of our lifetime” is a phrase that seems to get tossed around with quite a bit of abandon in politics.
It will likely be deployed locally during next year’s U.S. Senate race.
And it seems as if some feel the same way about the District 3 City Council race. (Since the outgoing city councillor will have stayed in office for 18 years, and councillors tend to stick around for a while, perhaps it is more accurate to say this is the “most important election of our pet’s lifetime”?)
Regardless, this battle for Middle Earth — sorry, sorry, meant District 3 — calls out for an appropriately epic theme song. The first song that came to mind was E.S. Posthumus’ “Unstoppable,” a staple of movie trailers.
