Dorchesterites will get a look at the candidates in the 2012 US Senate race this coming Sunday, with at least two of them slated to march in the annual Dorchester Day parade.
Newton Mayor Setti Warren, one of several candidates angling for the Democratic nomination, says he’s walking in the parade. The incumbent, U.S. Sen. Scott Brown, a Wrentham Republican, is also set to march. Brown will be in the first division with the incumbent city councillors, including At-Large Councillors Stephen Murphy, John Connolly, Felix Arroyo and Ayanna Pressley, and District 7 Councillor Tito Jackson and District 4 Councillor Charles Yancey.
Mayor Thomas Menino will be in the “chief marshal’s division,” at the front of the parade, which celebrates Dorchester’s settlement in 1630.
Starting at 1 p.m. on June 5, the parade will flow up Dorchester Ave. from Lower Mills to Columbia Rd. It starts at the corner of Richmond St. and Dorchester Ave.
Marching in the second division will be members of Dorchester’s State House delegation, including state Sen. Jack Hart and state Reps. Marty Walsh, Linda Dorcena Forry, Nick Collins and Carlos Henriquez.
The third division will feature the District 3 candidates and former City Councillor At-Large Michael Flaherty, who is running to reclaim one of the four at-large seats. The District 3 candidates signed up for the parade include Marty Hogan, Doug Bennett, John O’Toole, Frank Baker, Mary Tuitt and Craig Galvin.
Seven candidates are running to replace City Councillor Maureen Feeney, who is retiring at the end of her term this year.
The parade roster is subject to change.
